Question: hi, I have done FNAC test as suggested by doctor and please refer to attached FNAC report. We are thinking to postpone the surgery by one year or after kids. Please suggest if this is possible and there are any complications. Thanks in Advance

Brief Answer: Yes you can post pone surgery Detailed Answer: Hi Thanks for your query. Your report is suggestive of a benign lesion. Benign lesion means a lump that is not harmful and does not grow very fast. From the report it seems like a solid and fibrocystic type of benign proliferative lesion. The term proliferative means that the lining if the lump is growing inside the lump or increased number of acini (sacs inside glands that form milk). The atypia cells are not seen in these smears. So I think you would do just fine if you are regularly followed up every six months with repeat tests. By this I mean that even if you do not go for surgery there is no cause for worry. On the contrary if you decide to get it removed surgically, there would be no effect on breast feeding. The appearance of the breast would also not be affected much. Hope it helps. Dr Vaishalee
