Can One Have Thymoma Or Hyperplasia Even Without Having Myasthenia Gravis?

Question: I can’t seem to find help. Can a person have thymic hyperplasia or a thymoma, a lot of symptoms, and mestinon, steroids, imuran and IVIG seem to work but not enough to get me back to baseline, and not have myasthenia gravis? You suggested the tenselon test but I have been told it is not done any longer. All my blood work and single fiber EMG was negative. But I had the EMG after 5 IVIG treatments and on 200mg of Imuran,, 50mg prednisone, timespan mestinon as well as mestinon every 3-4 hours while awake. What else could it be? any suggestions on where I can go and who I can see? Any help will be appreciated! Thank you, XXXX

Brief Answer:
Consultation with a Surgical oncologist and Endocrinologist will help.

Detailed Answer:
Hi Mam.

I understand your concern.

In case your blood work up and SF EMG came out normal, its quite unlikely for you to have MG.

The possibility of thymoma/hyperplasia is high even though you do not have MG.

For this you need to rule out other autoimmune syndromes like SLE.

For this you need to have complete panel of anti nuclear antibody testing.

CT/MRI scan can help to delineate the tumour if any.

All you need to do is to consult a surgical oncologist and an endocrinologist.

Post your further queries,if any.
Thank you.
