Question: Hi Doctor, I am overweight (92 kg) and I am 5 feet 10 inches tall. My cholestrol level is 192, which is within range and I feel fit and fine. Is my extra kilos that I have still a problem? I feel its not but a lot of my colleagues and friends say it might be a problem for me...

Thanks for writing to HCM

I have gone through your history and findings in detail.
As you are over weight,you are more prone to diseases as compared to other persons.
It is good that you are so cautious about your health.You need regular check-up at least once in two years.
At present cholesterol level is fine,but you need complete Lipid profile like Triglyceride level,LDL,HDL,VLDL.

During screening you also need few other investigations like routine hemogram,Random blood sugar(RBS),Liver function test(LFT),Lipid profile,Renal function test(RFT),Ultrasound of abdomen.

You should be active in your daily life and try to reduce your weight.
You should avoid red meat and high fat milk products.
Cook food in olive or canola oil.
You should take limited salt in your diet.You should also avoid fried and junk food.Avoid alcohol and smoking if you take these things.
Take lot of fruits and vegetables.You should also increase your physical activity in the form of walking and exercise.
You can also do meditation and yoga.It will help you a lot.
Don't take stress in life.
