Question: I have the onset of fatty liver and have not had a regular light beer for 4 weeks. I do have 2 to 3 non alcohol beers mixed with seltzer water in the evenings. Is that ok?

Brief Answer:
Advice to limit to less than 1 non alcoholic beer

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for trusting HCM

Nonalcoholic beer is safe in that it does not contain alcohol or have very low alcohol content. The problem is that if contains sugar and empty calories which is not good for the liver. The sugars get converted to fat and deposit in the liver.
One glass of non-alcoholic beer contains almost 88 calories and 19-gram sugar. So if you drink 3 glasses it will add up to 264 calories and 57 grams sugar. The Recommended daily allowance of sugar recommended by WHO is only 25 grams/ day.
So, I would recommend limiting yourself to less than 1 drink or if possible avoid drinking such high calorie/sugar containing beverages.
