Hi, I have provided some attachments. Please review them.
Hello Dr Varshney,
thank you for replying so quickly,

.......... Brief Answer:
I need further details.:-

1. I want to know about any Magnesium chloride supplements that can be absorbed transdermally for therapeutic purpose.

2. What are your current symptoms?
Little specific indications of magnesium deficiency. (Slight Insomnia, occasional cramping, restless legs and rare migraine headache ( 2/yr ) some aching muscles,

4. Is your transplant successful?
YES thank you.
Kidney donated by my wife 2007.

Are you on any dialysis at present? NO.
I think I'm in good health but considering what I've been through its amazing I'm actually alive. One year ago suspected enlarged heart ( see Echocardiogram )
Symptoms were swollen legs & shortness of breath.
Reduced daily NaCl and started ACE Inhibitors.

Concerns about calcification of arteries as most renal transplant patients die of a heart attach or stroke. Magnesium supplementation is suggested.

3. Why do you want the Magnesium chloride to be absorbed? Are you feeling it's deficiency? Somewhat ( see above ) I believe I should be having magnesium supplementation as a preventative measure.

ALSO because of my immunosuppression and drug regime, Nexium, Lipitor, Prednisolone Sirolimus etc I'm most likely to be Mg deficient.
My diet is low in Mg and high in dairy ( Ca ) and moderately high in salt.

Oral supplementation has the following draw backs:-

1. Difficulty in delivering recommended daily dose of 360 mg by using MgO or MgSO4. causing stomach upsets.
2. Poor biological availability and absorption of Mg in the gut.

( see attached ) MgCl2 most biologically available.

There are many recent reports of transdermal absorption of MgCl2 indicate success.
( see attached )

also see links to Transdermal Magnesium Chloride below.

I would like to use this Transdermal method for delivery of supplementary instead of oral Mg.

http://www.ancient-minerals.com/products/magnesium-videos/sircus-transdermal-magnesium-therapy/
http://www.heartspring.net/magnesium_deficiency_transdermal.html

etc.

So my question - Can MgCl2 be absorbed transdermally as outlined above.
I require Mg supplementation using transdermal absorption ?

Is this possible?

thank you for your skilled analysis of my particular health issues.

Brief Answer:
Increase that in diet,

Detailed Answer:
Okay now i get you. You feel like taking Magnesium supplement in transdermal form to avoid the side effects and toxicity.
Personally speaking, i don't prefer there use as the use and effect is always doubtful.
There are various patches of Magnesium available in market but none of them is being manufactured under the guidance of Food and Drug Authority best to my knowledge.
In fact, i would advice you to increase your dietary intake of the food items containing high level of magnesium.
The food items containing high dose of magnesium are nuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, cashews, and almonds. Millet and barley also have high magnesium in them.
You should take them and get your magnesium levels normal naturally.
If you have any further query, please ask me.

Thank you Dr Varshney for your dietary advice....BUT

Can magnesium chloride be absorbed transdermal ?

Are the clinical papers I sent you confirming Mg absorption through the skin?

Are the companies selling transdermal magnesium chloride defrauding the patient?
What do you think Dr?

Brief Answer:
Can be absorbed.

Detailed Answer:
Hello.
Yes definitely it can be absorbed transdermally. But the question is how effective it is for the purpose.
I am not saying that they are doing fraudulent activity by selling those products.
I have already read those attachments.
However my clinical experience says that they are actually effective only by giving a placebo effect.
I would advice you to get your Serum Magnesium levels done and if they are slightly low go ahead with diet enriched with Magnesium.
If in case it is severely low then you can discuss with your doctor to give you it in injectable form as it would be devoid of the side effects that you get through oral route.
If you have any further query, please ask me.
