Can I Get Pregnant Even With Tubal Ligation?

default
Posted on Mon, 14 Apr 2014
Question: I had a tubal ligation when I was 23 and I'm now 33. 3 weeks ago my menstrual cycle was a few days late & only lasted 2 days with minimal flow. The previous cycle was almost a week late extremely heavy flow with an excessive amount of large clotting and was also very painful. My cycles normally come like clock work. I have had terrible mood swings lately. A little over a week ago. I woke up with abnormally painful breast. They both are sore achey, feel heavy & warm. The only time in life I've ever had breast pain like this & weird menstrual cycles I was pregnant. I've had some slight pain in my lower abdomen & have been more tired than usual. I did have mild to moderate endometriosis about 5 years ago. But this pain feel different from the pain I had with that. I had an intravaginal ultrasound 2 years ago & was told my right ovary has fused to the back side of my uterus but I should be fine. I'm wondering if there is any chance of my uterus and ovary forming a connection that would allow an egg to release in my uterus? I'm nervous I might be pregnant.

Brief Answer: pregnancy is uncommon.USG SCAN. Detailed Answer: Hi, thanks for using HCM. I went through the query and understood your concern. Relax. Uterus cannot form a new track with attached ovary and the chance of pregnancy is very uncommon. Since you are getting irregular periods since last cycle with pain and discomfort as explained by you, I advice you to get done USG abdomen and pelvis with per vaginal scan for diagnosing the problem. The cause may be due to endometriosis, PCOD or any infection. Just to relieve your anxiety you can get done urine pregnancy test wit UPT kit at your home. I hope this information helps you. Feel free to ask if any further queries and I will be glad to answer them. Wish you good health. Regards

Thanks for the response. Could the possible causes that you mentioned also cause the persistent pain & soreness in both my breast? Constant pain in them for over a week now. I tried taking otc pain relievers but nothing is helping. My breast are so tender simply walking causes more pain.I have my bras professionally fitted so I know my bras fit properly.

Brief Answer: yes hormonal imbalance can cause. Detailed Answer: Hi, thanks for writing back. Yes, in PCOD or any imbalance in hormonal levels uou may feel breast tenderness. Since you had irregular periods the chance of hormonal imbalance is more. For now you can take NSAID like Ibuprofen for pain and tenderness. And get evaluated. So I advised you to get done scanning once to check for any abnormalities. This will also detect if you are pregnant. Hope this clarifies your concern. Wish you good health. Regards
