Can Hypnotherapy Cure Schizophrenia?

Question: My brother is 30 year old and he has shizofrania. Can we consult any hypnotherapist. He is treated by dr. XXXXXXX mansharamani now days

Schizophrenia is a severe psychiatric disorder and many cases have poor prognosis. It occurs due to neurochmeical disturbances in brain mainly with dopamine neurotransmitter. It is treated by anti psychotic medicines. There is no role of hypnotherapy in schizophrenia. I do not recommend consulting hypnotherapist.

sir he is eating his medicine regularly but no change. what can we do for him. his age is 30. during my mistake i write his age 62.

Your brother is young. As early as appropriate medicines started as good are the results.

Let me provide more information.

- Since when he has problem?

- What are the symptoms?

- Which medicines are going and since when? Dose and frequency?

Currently lots of anti-psychotic medicines are available which can give good results.

When patient has suicidal thoughts ECT- (Electro convulsive therapy) is very useful.

he has this problem from year 2011. he is hang with ceiling, necked round of full town, he cuts his penis three times, jumped in the well. drinking finial.
he has medicine now 1. GRESSAMI - 200, PACITANE 2mg, ZOLPINITE -5, ZOLPINITE -10. since one month.

Hi,

Thanks for information.

He is on amisupride 200 mg. It only anti-psychotic medicine he is taking currently. His symptoms and severity of the problem suggest that he needs this medicine in 400 mg dose and/or some other anti-psychotic medicines must be given. He should also be given lithium considering multiple suicide attempts as it is the only drug with some anti-suicidal effects.

Pacitane is anti-cholinergic and given to prevent sdie effects of anti-psychotic medicines and zolpinite for sleep.

Please discuss this with his treating doctor or take opinion of another psychiatrist there.
