Can Hylarounidase Cause Muscle Or Nerve Damage? I Had Cheek

default
Posted on Mon, 11 Nov 2019
Question: Can hylarounidase cause muscle or nerve damage? I had cheek filler dissolved and then applied pressure after to get rid of filler. Three days later my left cheek won’t contract and my left lip won’t raise, creating a lopsided smile. I cannot scrunch my nose on that side either. It’s like that side of my face won’t work!! I had an MRI and it showed all nerves are intact and no lesions or tumors present. My doctor diagnosed me with Bell’s Palsy by my eye and forehead aren't really affected. They put me on a two week course of steroids. I am now three weeks from the start and no improvement. Someone please help!!

Brief Answer:
Regarding facial muscle weakness secondary to injection

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to ask a doctor service. I have gone through your query and noted your concern.

There could be several causes of this like direct trauma, injection into the nerve or nerve compression by the injected product which can cause transient muscle weakness like in Bell's palsy. I suggest you to continue with oral steroids. Consult your surgeon.

Hopefully this would recover.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if you need any more assistance.

The MRI did not show nerve damage or trauma. Do you think it will go away?
