Brief Answer:

Surgical treatment is a better option.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

In a fracture of surgical neck of humerus, non-operative treatment is considered only if it is a hairline fracture with no displacement and the person is young with healthy bones who has a chance of healing the bone properly.

In elderly women with weak osteoporotic bones and if the fracture fragments are displaced then an operative treatment- open reduction and internal fixation is the only way to treat the fracture.

There are no images attached to this report. You can upload the X-ray report for a better evaluation. In such cases, the non-operative treatment is considered if the person is too old or is not fit for surgery.

Surgical treatment helps in better and proper healing with early and complete recovery.

Hope I have answered your query.

Take care
