Can Fatty Liver Disease Cause Upper Right Quadrant Pain?

Question: During a laparoscopic surgery to remove my fallopian tubes due to severe lower right quadrant pain, my OB GYN discovered that my liver appeared to look almost all white. An image was obtained and I have scheduled an appointment with my PCP. I also have experienced right upper quadrant pain right below my ribs that is a constant dull ache since surgery July 16th. I also have yellow color to my stool. What could this mean and what is my doctor looking for?

Thanks for the query.
I have read our query and understand your concern.
White liver means deposition of fat in liver rendering it white.
Fatty liver can be caused by various reasons like alcoholism,obesity,eating high fatty diet,consuming herbal preparations etc.
A dull right upper quadrant pain can be due to fatty liver.
Pale stool means suspicion of jaundice.
You need to be worked up thoroughly by getting various liver function tests,hepatitis markers and an ultrasound of your liver along with examination of stool.
Once you consult your doctor,he would do the needful and get you tested on above lines.
