Can Ciprofloxin For UTI Cause Increased Blood Sugar Levels?

Question: patient is a 72 year old woman
diabetic, has COPD
currently being treated for a UTI with ciprofloxin
has had glucose test running higher than usual (200)
could the UTI or ciprofloxin be the cause of sugar increase
if not any other possibilities to check

Thanks for your query,based on the facts that the woman who is known diabetic has UTI and taking Ciprofloxacin.

Her recent blood sugar levels have been raised to 200.

In any infection in the body there is increased body metabolism that results in to increase blood sugar levels .

It is not due to Ciprofloxacin .

Please check her blood sugar levels after she recovers from UTI.
