Question: hi, today i had this pain in the center of my chest. it was a squeezing sensation, and it lasted about 2 minutes. it went into my jaw and my jaw really hurt. the pain was about an 8 out of 10. i came home and slept for 3 hours and felt better with rest. just wondering if the possibility of this was Angina? i have syringomyelia and fibromyalgia. i havent experienced this kind of pain before. thank you.

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

I passed carefully through your question and would explain that based on your prescription of the chest pain, Angina can not be excluded, although fibromyalgia and syringomyelia could mimic this clinical situation too.

Coming to this point, I recommend consulting with your attending physician and performing some tests:

- a resting ECG and cardiac enzymes
- a cardiac ultrasound
- complete blood count, PCR, ESR for inflammation.

An exercise cardiac stress test or stress echo would help investigate for coronary artery disease.

You should discuss with your doctor on the above tests.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

thank you so much for your answer! im pretty sure i had all this done in 2016 and saw a heart specalist who said my heart was fine. should i get all this done again? ive had like an ms hug which the pain has wrapped around me, in my chest but nothing like what i experienced yesterday when it went into my jaw. i understood fibromyalgia can cause this (i forget the name) but i didnt realise that syringomyelia could to. i have a syrinx in the c6/7 area about 13 mm. ill mention the pain to my doctor when i see him next and to my neurologist when i have my app next monday

Thanks!

Brief Answer:

I would explain as follows:

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Yes, the syrinx in this level can cause pain in this region too.

Anyway, I would recommend repeating the cardiac tests, as it has passed a considerable time since the last tests, just to be sure that everything is OK.

Hope I have answered your query.

Take care
