Can An UTI Reoccur After Completing A Bactrim Course?

Question: I am being treated for a UTI or kidney infection. It started in late July. I've been taking bactrim ds, but 10 days after finishing the first 10 dose, the infection returned. I was given 21 days of bactrim ds. Took that, and again 10 days after finishing that course, the infection returned. Now on day 2 of the third course. PSA test showed a 4.55. I'm 53, smoker, am wondering if this is common or maybe something else. Been to 2 doctor, both seem to think it's a UTI

Thanks for query Based on the facts that you have posted recurrence of UTI that you are getting could be due to Prostatis

I shall be happy if you can provide few more details to help me in making precise comments on your problems
1) Have you consulted Urologist?
2) Was Bactria D S prescribed after doing urine culture
3) Is your Semen examination done?

I would suggest you to consult qualified Urologist for clinical and digital Rectal examination and get following basic tests done to confirm the diagnosis
1) Urine culture
2) Semen examination and culture
3) Swab test of discharge obtained after Prostate massacre
4)Ultrasound Scanning of abdomen

Start taking appropriate antibiotic as per culture reports.

Further treatment will depend upon the final diagnosis
