Brief Answer:
Depends upon the type of infection

Detailed Answer:
Hi dear,
I have gone through your question and understand your concerns.
The MRI findings depend upon the type of infection somebody had in the past.
If it was tuberculosis , neurocysticercosis or any brain abscess , it may show up in MRI many years later also.
However,if there was meningitis or encephalitis, it will not show up in MRI.
Please give the details about the type of infection, when it occurred and how was it diagnosed, so that I can explain more clearly.
Please upload the old and recent MRI images, if available.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
Please do get back for further queries.
Wishing you good health.
