Question: As per doctor certify he was diagnosis of acute of chronic pancreatitis with had H/O of chronic pancreatitis for last two yrs., there is no H/O DM & HTN. As per ICP pt. having h/o alcohol intake in past. As per insured statement he had h/o alcohol intake prior 2014 when he was first diagnosed with pancreatitis. Can Acute on Chronic Pancreatitis be due to Alcohol ? S.lipase 4700U/L - S.Amylase 323U/L

Of which Gall stones and Alcohol use form 90% of the cases. Infection, trauma causing hypercalcemia, high lipids in the blood, medications form the rest of the cases.
This patient seems to have acute pancreatitis with such high Serum Lipase and Amylase levels.
