Question: Hello Doctor,

My wife had an affair and I came to know 1 month after our marriage. At that time, she begged me to get married and requested me not to tell anyone about this. Everyone does the mistakes, I forgive her and we were very happy.

1 year later,
She is having Diabetes (got to know from a physician and I have the medical report) and also PCOD problem. Daily she woke up at 8:30 AM, if possible, she will prepare food (2-3 times a week) go to the office and come back home by 10 PM and watch TV till 12 AM. I explained her health problems to her dad but no use.

I started forcing her to wake up early and go for a walk/gym. I forced her to prepare food at home instead of having it outside. She got irritated and started fights for silly matters. After few days our fights are continued.

She went to her native for a week (don't know what happened there) on our next fight she started blaming my parents and treats me saying 'I will XXXXXXX you and your family'. TILL DATE SHE BLAMES MY PARENTS (my parents are not staying with us).
In the month of September, suddenly her mama came to our parents home(my native) and did rowdyism. He also treats my parents by saying 'I will bring Media people and XXXXXXX your family'.

Now, she purposefully starts a fight at least once a day and scold me with bad words and says ' I will put you behind bars'.

I really don't know what's wrong with her and I want to keep safe my parents first before she going to police station. Please advice me how should I behave with her and how to convince her? I don't want to spoil my life. Please advice.

Problem:
------------
1. She had an affair before marriage - this matter is coming up in my mind whenever we
had fight and when she scolds my parents with bad words :( - How should I overcome
or react to her in such situations?

2. She is a Diabetic (HB1AC is ~7). Doctor advice not to get pregnant till this reach ~5.7. She is not serious about this (having a baby) - How should I convince her ?

3. I believe she is very influenced by her mother and her aunt's (her mother sister), she talks over the phone for hours everyday. - What should i do on this?

4. Am under stress and I want to come out of all these and be happy in my life - please advice me how to change my attitude and to think optimistic.

Brief Answer:
Diabetes,Marital discord temporary

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Thank you for your query. I can understand your concerns.

The entire thing is far from any medical issue except your wife is diabetic and her HbA1c is above 5.7 %. Pregnancy becomes risky if HbA1c is high. Getting a child will be a better motivation for her to control diet and life-style (late night TV watching & staying awake till 1200 AM).

Your wife's parents (your in-laws) always will be on your wife's side.

To prevent matter getting worse (in-laws or wife seeking police help etc. as they are threatening you ) ,you and your wife have to reconcile. Both of you have to adjust with each other - I mean some steps forward from each side by sacrificing egos. Once Wife and husband reconcile , things will fall into place.

Why don't you take her for a trip to some tourist destination for few days?
You have to positively show that you really care for her and not fighting any more. Affirmative action will show you positive results.

These days both the partners may have pre-marital affairs because of exposure (some disclosed-some not).

Hoe does it help you, if you make an issue out of it?
You have to keep the marriage.
Legal course should be last option.
