Can A 4th Generation HIV Test Detect The N And P Group?

Question: Hi,

A 4 th generation Hiv test is able to detect groups m, n,o,p of Hiv 1? I read that The test si no designed to detect group n and p, thus is possible that detect these rare groups

Yes.Usually the 4th generation tests do not detect the N and P group. But these are too rare.
You need not worry of these if the results are negative.
You can get HIV 1&2 RNA PCR test for cross confirmation.It can detect viral copies if present.

Ok, so I understand that hiv 4th generation test may detect all these groups (N and P)? unless It is not designed for them?
