default
Posted on Mon, 3 Apr 2017
Question: I am experiencing a form of inertia, mentally. My mind races constantly about the things I need to do, but I can not get going to do them. It is so frustrating. I tend to want to sleep all of the time.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thank you for the query at Healthcare Magic

I have gone through the query and I understand your concern.
I see that you are taking Xanax and Zoloft ,but you have not mentioned the reason why these have been prescribed.
Xanax can cause excessive sleepiness and tiredness. I'd recommend that you take the Xanax 25 mg before bed time only and discontinue the morning dose.

Other possible causes for your symptoms can be hypothyroidism ,neurological causes like early dementia or parkinson's, depression etc.

Complete Physical examination, Mental status examination and blood investigations to look for anemia, hypothyroidism is required at this point to make a definite diagnosis.

I'd recommend that you follow up with your primary care physician to get the evaluation done.
Also discuss with your doctor regarding taking the Xanax only at bed tome is the right option for you and if it helps with your symptoms
If Zoloft have been prescribed for depression ,sometimes increasing the dose/switching to another antidepressant can help with the symptoms

Hope I was able to answer your question
Please feel free to address any more concerns
Regards,
Dr.Lekshmi
