Brief Answer:
not a known cause

Detailed Answer:
Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

Vitamin D deficiency is not typically associated with low platelets.

There are some causes of low platelets that are due to abnormalities of the immune system. Since vitamin D has the potential as an immune modulator (can affect the immune response), it can help in these types of low platelet disorders but low vit d does not cause low platelet count.

Causes of low platelet are:(1) infections- there are a number of infections that can cause low platelet counts
(2)chemotherapy
(3)alcohol use
(4)deficient vitamin b12 or folate
(5)side effect of medication
(6)immune diseases
(7)diseases of the spleen

I hope this helps, feel free to ask any other questions
