Can Valparin Chrono Be Taken While On DEC?
Question: I have symptoms of allergy rhinitis from last 6 mos. I completed a 10 day course of Tab. Montek LC. It still persists. My doctor then started the diagnosis for Eosinophilia and prescribed Tab. Hetrazan 100mg, 3 times a day, for 21 days.
I read contraindications of Diethylcarbamzine citrate that it should not be taken by someone who has history of epilepsy.
I have a history of epilepsy 5 years ago. I completed the 3 year course in 2013 having Valparin chrono 300, and EEG was normal.
Please advise.

I understand your concern.
No study has proven that DEC (DiEthylCarbamzine citrate) is contraindicated with Valparin Chrono.
No increase in seizure disorder has been reported with this drug.
Hence, In my opinion this drug can be taken with Valparin.
DEC is known to cause occasional fever and GI disturbances in few individuals.Apart from this, no seizure precipitating activity is reported nor is contraindicated with other drugs like Valparin.

Sorry I should have made more clear that I am currently not taking Valparin anymore. I stopped it in Oct 2013 completing 3 yrs as prescribed. EEG performed was normal. But thanks for clarifying again.
Please suggest taking Vitamin C and Iron supplements will help treat my allergy and eosinophilia naturally.
