Can Sumag Be Used For Skin Disorders?

default
Posted on Sat, 10 Sep 2016
Question: Hello Doctor,
My son is eight years old. He has got a scratch near his left elbow while playing a week ago.
We have applied bandage on the spot as first aid. But it has not healed even after one week of getting the injury. There is apparently no puss. Mild pain is sensed in the nearby area on applying pressure. My question is whether SUMAG ointment be applied. Or any other alternative ointment is advisable.
The wound should be kept open or be covered with bandage considering the rainy season.

Brief Answer:
stop bandages and sumag

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thank you for query.

You should never close a scratch or minor wounds with a bandage which delays healing.
Sumag is used in skin disorders.
Just clean the wound with betadine or savlon solution and apply T-bact ointment locally. Do not apply any bandages.
Wound will heal in 2 days.

Get back if any query.
