Brief Answer:
You might want to take some antacid syrup to feel better fast.

Detailed Answer:
Hi!

I am Dr. Neel Kudchadkar and I will help you fix this problem, quickly, easily and effectively.

Sertraline, also called as Zoloft is an SSRI antidepressant class of medication.

Typically the drug comes enteric or sugar coated. This is done to prevent the drug from irritating the mouth and throat and also to avoid the odd taste, that most medications usually have.

You mention having taken half a pill.

Breaking or slicing the pill, will have removed it's protective film that is supposed to give a pleasant or neutral taste.

Secondly, when the pill is sliced, there is sudden loading of it's contents.

You mention having tried water and ice and the like, and still, your throat persists in burning.

Let us be practical here.

In your local drug store, you can find a syrup called either as milk of magnesia, or an antacid syrup. Note well, do not buy the antacid tablet, buy the syrup.
This does not need a doctors prescription.

Kindly swallow one tablespoon of this. You probably know you'll feel better soon.

There is a sound logic behind this treatment that I am ministering you.
Zoloft is Sertraline Hydrochloride, Thus the molecule, when in contact with the throat H2O molecules produces mass quantities of protons [H+] A proton is like a yardstick of acidity. Antacid syrup (any one, 1) Milk of magnesia 2) Aluminium Hydroxide 3) Polysiloxane) neutralizes the protons.

So, your throat stops burning awfully quick.

And you get the benefits of Sertraline too, as it is not an acid.

You're OK now.

Kindly fetch the syrup as soon as you can.

I encourage patients who ask Q&A and doubts and additional queries.

Waiting to hear from you, personally, that you're fine.

Regards!
