Can STD Be Contracted Through Unprotected Oral Sex?
Question: I'm a thirty year old male and I've had protected vaginal sex and unprotected oral sex yesterday and this morning with a person I don't know but who claims had tests done every so often. Just a week ago, I did an STD check up and it showed no conditions besides a known HPV. I also occasionally have candida, but I can get it to go away with a cream I got from a previous consult.
Today I noticed my foreskin was a bit sore and I see some red dots/a white dot. Now I'm doubting whether this is due to having contracted an STD or simply friction, any insights would be greatly appreciated. I noticed that in previous bouts of oral sex, I've had a sore penis head/foreskin as well, is this something that happens frequently with other people as well? What would be a good prevention/solution to this?

Brief Answer:
Oral sex carries a low risk for STD/HIV
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
Thank you very much for posting your query.
I saw the pictures sent by you. There is no sign of any obvious STD or signs for inflammation (nothing like candidiasis). The red dots could be due to friction as you rightly pointed out. Simple cleaning frequently will assure you will get alright.
The white dots or bumps are normal variation. Not to be worried. But as it was just one day, you have to watch for other symptoms for some more time even though the chances of STD/HIV are low with oral sex. Protected vaginal sex has negligible risk.

Brief Answer:
Herpes simplex type 1 infection and yeast can occur with oral sex.
Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Welcome back.
STDs are more than 25 in number. Ulcerative STDs and warts would be obvious when it was present with the partner's mouth. For the past 20 years I had not come across a single case of STD ulcer in mouth. Of course certain STDs like Herpes, yeast infection can occur with oral sex and Gonorrhea, Chlamydia can be transmitted through oral sex as a receiver of a male partner than with penetrative oral sex.
Herpes simplex infection through oral sex from the partner is possible with HSV 1 infection which is a non STD organism. HIV transmission through oral sex is low as per CDC, XXXXXXX (http://www.cdc.gov/hiv/risk/estimates/riskbehaviors.html)
So not to worry much. If there is any symptom we can investigate with tests.
