Can Qutan-SR, Heptral-400, Escitalopram And Clonazepam Be Taken Together?

Question: ) Whether it is safe to take Escitalopram+clonazepam composition with Heptral 400 tablet together. Suffering from sleeping disorder, depression and fatty liver grade 1. Whether any drug interaction is there.

Or

2) Can I take Qutan SR 100 with Heptral 400. Any drug interaction Heptral 400 and Qutan SR 100.

At present I am taking Qutan SR 100. Heptral 400, Escitalopram+clonazepam is newly prescribed.

Kindly advice me can I continue with Qutan SR and Heptral 400 or with Escitalopram+Clonazepam and Heptral 400. Taking into notice the drug interaction.

I can understand your concern. Heptral 400 is Ademetionine or S-Adenosyl Methionine. The drug is used in a number of hepatic conditions and also in some psychiatric conditions to potentiate the effects of psychiatric drugs.

You have Grade 1 fatty liver and this drug can help to improve your condition. Though grade 1 fatty liver is considered as a normal condition and there is nothing serious in it. Coming to your questions-

- It is safe to take Escitalopram+Clonazepam combination with Heptral 400 and no significant drug interactions are there. Only one or two case reports of serotonin syndrome are there when Heptral in high doses is used with anti-depressants. But if taken in normal prescribed doses there is no risk of any interactions. It is safe to take these drugs together.

- No significant interactions between Quetiapine 100 mg and Heptral 400 mg. So no risk in taking these drugs also.

You can take the drug as per your prescription without any fear. It is safe to take take these drugs together.

Sir, I am very helpful for your prompt and helpful advice. Sir, I am already taking Qutan SR 100 and accustomed with it. And from newly prescribed Heptral 400 by an Gastroenterologist and from the leaflet learnt that Heptral400 interact with anti-depressant drug, so, I became confused. Accordingly, I have consulted with another Physcratist and he prescribed me clonazepam+escitalopram. Since, I am already taking Qutan SR 100. So, Sir, can I take Qutan SR 100 with Heptral 400.

Also, I have heard taking sleeping piles like Clonazepam+escitalopram causes Kidney disease.

Heptral can interact with antidepressants but at the doses you are taking risk of Serotonin syndrome is almost nil. Only one or two case reports are there that support that use of Heptral with antidepressants is associated with serotonin syndrome but there are no detailed research studies available. I have prescribed the drug to a lot of my patients who were taking antidepressants and no one came with any serious side effects. So no need to worry, you can take the drugs without any fear.

Yes you can take Qutan 100 with Heptral. No risk of interactions.

In a healthy individuals risk of serious kidney disease following use of Clonazepam or Escitalopram is almost nil. So no risk of kidney diseases.

Sir, I am takin Heptral 400 twice. Fenofibrate 160 for high tg. So, Sir I can take Qutan SR 100 with Heptral 400. Actually previously I used to take alcohol. So, sleeping disturbance I got from alcohol dependency.
