Brief Answer:
Peroxide is not a good treatment for ear infection

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for contacting HCM with your health care concerns

You are wondering if using peroxide would help an ear infection. Actually that would be the worst thing to use. If you have an external ear infection then you would need antibiotic drops for the external ear infection. This is also known as swimmers ear.

If you have a inner ear infection then oral antibiotics are needed. You would know if you ruptured your ear drum by blood coming out of the ear and loss of hearing in the ear.

I recommend that you see your medical provider to look in your ear to determine what type of infection you have and get the proper treatment. There are no home remedies to help either condition

I don't have an inner ear, It was middle, but I'm done my course of antibiotics. my right ear is still bothering me. she said I have water/fluid behind my ear drum. I was using vinegar /alcohol mix, but it burned and made it hurt worse so I stopped. they are not really painful, just bothersome. I am not going on more antibiotics so I was seeking natural remedies. if you know any?

Brief Answer:
fluid behind the ear can be treated with nasal decongestants

Detailed Answer:
Thank you for returning to HCM to clearify your condition.

YOu had a middle ear infection or we also call it an inner ear infection that you took antibiotics for but have persitent fluid behind the ear drum. The best way to help reduce that fluid is by using nasal decongestant medication like pseudoephedrine. This helps reduce swelling in the ear canal and eustachian tube which then allows the fluid to be absorbed. The only other way to get that fluid out is by the doctor lancing the ear drum and placing ear tubes.

Normally fluid behind the ear will take 2-4 weeks after an ear infection and is absorbed naturally. So your other option is to wait it out.

I highly discourage you from trying any external ear drops to reduce the ear fluid. It is potentially dangerous and could cause more harm than good.
