Can Nifedipine Cause Hair Loss And Erectile Dysfunction?

default
Posted on Thu, 31 Aug 2017
Question: I have had high blood pressure for about 5 years. I have tried a number of high blood pressure medication options. The one that work's best in terms of managing my blood pressure is one daily does of nifedipine 30mg which I have been taking for about 2 years now. Amongst the many listed possible side effects for this drug, the ones that have affected me are hair loss and erectile dysfunction. Are you able to recommend alternative drug options that I can discuss with my doctor which will give me similar blood pressure control to nifedipine but with less hair loss and ED impact?

Detailed Answer:
Hello sir

After going through the medical details provided by you First of all I would like to tell you that Hair loss is not a documented side effect of Nifedipine and erectile dysfunction has mentioned as a rarest side effects of it.

So I would like to advise you that kindly check from authentic medical source as there is lot of wrong information avaliable on Internet.

However you can discuss with your doctor regarding the option of Amlodipine as a replacement.

Hope to have been helpful.

Kind regards
