Question: Hi,
My 5 month old daughter is suffering from cold and cough from last 2 days. Doctor prescribed two medications
1. Maxtra Syrup ( When I checked it online it says to be used for children above 2 years)
2. Soventus Jr ( I didn’t find any information to use it on infants)
Please can you advise us whether to use the above medication.

Much Appreciated.

Thank You

Brief Answer:
Safe. Can be given

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Possibly your child is suffering from a viral infection. Irrespective of treatment it usually lasts for 5-7 days.
* Soventus Jr contains Ambroxol, Guaifenesin and Terbutaline. Each of these is safe for a child of this age. You can feel free to give it.
* Maxtra contains Chlorpheniramine and Phenylephrine which are also safe for a child of this age. If given in appropriate dose it is safe to be given to a child of this age.

You can feel free to follow the prescription of your doctor.

Feel free to write back.

Regards
