You have been taking Lunesta for sleep fro the past year and now the insurance company is refusing to refill it. They are probably refusing to refill because sleep medication like Lunesta is only approved for short term use. Therefore only for 2-4 weeks XXXXXXX There are no age restrictions on Lunesta but again there is caution for use in those greater than 65 as there is a higher risk of falls and injuries along with dependency. So you may have difficulty convincing your insurance company to refill your medication. .You may ask your doctor to try Trazodone or Mirtazapine as substitute medication to help sleep. These medications are not addictive and can be used indefinitely
