Can Latuda And Trileptal Be Taken For Depression?
Question: my daughter suffers from depression and serious manic episode wandering why latuda and trileptal are prescribe.she has been to 2 psy hospital within the month and a half
the hospital put me on the medications and injected me with Haldol, gedione,ativan when I will be restless and some psychotic episodes

The prescription contains two mood stabilisers one from the anti epileptic category and other from antipsychotic category and I think that should be sufficient to prevent manic episodes.
Lithium is gold standard for prevention of manic episodes and if your daughter have pattern like manic depressive manic course lithium should be added to current prescription.

Thanks for reverting back to me.
The dose of lithium for most patient of young age group with normal kidney function falls between 900-1800 mg. The dose is started at 900 mg and plasma concentration is determined after one week. If the range is in desired range the 900 mg becomes the target dose.
If the plasma concentration remains low the dose is increased by 300 mg and plasma concentration is determined again after one week. The target concentration for lithium is 0.4 to 0.6 meq/l.
For sleep problem I think Lorazepam 2 mg can be used for few weeks and after that the dose can be reduced once her mood become stable.
