Posted on Tue, 19 Sep 2017
Question: my 24 year old son has been slowly taken off Clozapine which he took for 5 years. He had severe Pancreatitis and spent a month in the ICU this past month and they believe this med may had caused this, plus 60 lbs of weight. he was a D1 athlete in college normally at 190 lbs. Over last 6 weeks he was slowly taken off clozapine. Now he has started a paranoid type of behavior .. over last few days ... What other meds are out there that do not gain crazy weight how about Lamictril ?

Brief Answer:
What medications is he currently taking?

Detailed Answer:
HI,

I am so sorry to hear about what your son experienced. I will need to understand what the current medications he is currently taking. This way, I will know how to weigh in adequately. Besides the current paranoid episodes, what else is he being managed for? I will also like to know if there are any other major changes in his life that might be hard for him to accept easily which might explain his paranoid state.

I hope to hear back from you and promise to provide a more comprehensive and helpful response integrating elements from the response you will provide to the above questions.
