Question: Hi I am having problems with my current pill marvelon including depression allergies and constant sweating although it has really been beneficial to my skin. I would like to switch to a new pill called zoely without having to wait until I finish my last 14 pills in the pack of marvelon but is it safe to switch straight away? Also how would I do this? As I know Zoely is slightly different to other combined pills. Could you let me know abit more about this pill and the directions of usage. I would like to try zoely as it is closer to the natural hormones and I heard it is good for acne and excess hair but I am worried about it causing depression like marvelon. Please help. Thank you

Hi, I have been on Marvelon for about 7 weeks. The dose I'm on is 30/150 and I was given it because I suffer from acne, oily skin and excess hair so I needed a pill to balance out my hormones. I was previously on loestrin low dose pill but this made my skin really oily and uneven and gave me insomnia and an itchy scalp. I was also on XXXXXXX before this and it made me sweat excessively and urinate constantly but apart from this it was fine so I researched and found that the pill Zoely is similar to XXXXXXX but without the side effects which is why I wanted to change and also it is the closest pill to natural hormones. Waiting your reply.

Brief Answer: Its not safe to shift to Zoely Detailed Answer: Hi, Thanks for writing back. Zoely contains 2.5 milligrams of nomegestrol acetate (a progestogen) and 1.5 milligrams of oestradiol (the natural oestrogen). The dosage of the composition is entirely different compared to Marvelon (desogestrel 0.15 mg and ethinyl estradiol 0.03 mg). Also the Estrogen is in Estradil hemihydrate form which is known to cause more side effects compared to ethinyl estradiol. I do not recommend you to shift to Zoely for the indication you mentioned. Instead you can change to XXXXXXX which is medically equivalent to Marvelon and suitable for your indication. Also the side effect profile is much narrow compared to Marvelon. Discuss with you treating doctor on the same and then proceed. Wish you good health. Regards,

Hi thank you for your reply. Can I switch to XXXXXXX straight away without finishing my pack of marvelon (I have 13 more pills left) or do I have to finish the pack as I really do not like it. Also I'm worried about the blood clot risk with XXXXXXX Would mercilon be a better choice given my symptons of depression, spots and oily skin? Is it safe to switch to any of these pills straight away? Also when I switch mid cycle to XXXXXXX or mercilon do I take the whole new pack of them (28 pills) or do I carry on taking them for the remaining 14 days til my period and then have the 7 day break? Thank you

Brief Answer: Yes, you can switch. Detailed Answer: Hi, Thanks for writing back. You can switch either to XXXXXXX or Mercilon. There would be no problem as the indication is not birth control. As there could be failure in birth control if medications are switched. Yes, you must take the new medication for the remaining 14 days til my period and then have the 7 day break. Wish you good health. regards,
