Can HIV Be Contracted Through Wet Blood Outside The Body?

default
Posted on Thu, 14 Apr 2016
Question: sir, can HIV transmitted through contact with the wet blood outside human body (if someone touch the infected blood outside human body with his penis and after that he masturbates) ??? How long HIV can have the ability to infect in the wet blood outside human body ???
Can HIV be transmitted by sewage water (if it mixed with body fluids having HIV) ?? I found on the internet that a researcher Dr Thames has said that HIV can live in sewage water for long. Before some days while I was using a public toilet, while my feces fell into the commode latrine some sewage water fell on my penis(often semen comes while I strain in the toilet). After some time of this incident I masturbated. Is there any risk of HIV infection in this way ??? Please help me to clarify my doubts.

Brief Answer:
You do not have HIV risk from public toilet

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in detail.
Please find my observations below.

1. HIV is a weak virus and will get destroyed in air within few seconds to minute.

2. It can stay in blood for few minutes until it gets dry.

3. Infection from sewage water is less likely because concentration of virus is low and no one uses sewage water for any purpose.

4. Using public toilet and water touching your penis will not give you HIV virus.

5. In conclusion, you do not have HIV risk.

Hope your query is answered.
Please do write back if you have any doubts.

thank U sir. Please make me clear that how long HIV can have the ability to infect in wet blood outside human body ??? If the wet blood is touched by hands and after that someone masturbates by his hand then is he falls within the risk zone of HIV ?? Please clear my confusion.

Brief Answer:
Cannot get HIV from masturbating with small amount of blood in hand

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing back with an update.

1. Scientists have tried to study infectivity of HIV virus in laboratory condition and it can cause infection after few hours.

2. However in real life the condition is different and the concentration of virus is low so it will be destroyed in minutes in wet blood when exposed to air.

3. Having blood in hand and masturbating will not cause HIV infection. This is because no fluid is allowed to enter penis and semen comes out at that time. So virus cannot cause infection from masturbating.

Hope your query is answered.

thank U sir. U have said that because no fluid is allowed to enter into penis during masturbation so no chance of HIV infection. If it is so then how a male can get HIV from sexual intercourse with a female ??? ( no vaginal fluid also cant enter into penis ) . thanks once again.

Brief Answer:
During sex vaginal fluid will enter penis because of pressure

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing back with an update.

1. Masturbating and sexual intercourse are different. During sex the penis is inside the vagina and pressure of vaginal fluid increases such that it will enter the penis and then the HIV infection is transmitted from vagina to penis.

Hope your query is answered.

Thank U sir. U have replied that because there was no pressure so blood cant get into so that's why little chance of HIV transmission is there. But please make me clear how HIV can spread through homosexual activity of boys ??? Thank U ....

Answered by Dr. Vivek Chail (9 minutes later)
Brief Answer:
In homosexual activity there is ejection of semen in to the rectum

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing back with an update.

1. Your question is important and the reason is in homosexual activity among males, one penetrates with his penis and the other receives the penis in his rectum. In this situation there can be ejection of semen from an infected partner in to the rectum of the non infected partner under pressure therefore there is a good chance of HIV transmission to the one receiving. The inserting partner can also get HIV if there is injury to the penis or close contact with HIV containing material including blood during the event.

Hope your query is answered.

sir thanks for every thing. Sir sorry to disturb U again. I often control the tip of my penis by pressing & releasing it during ejaculation which give me more pleasure. Is it normal ??? As I described before that my hands may touch some wet blood (the blood was not mine) in the laboratory for semen collection and after that I masturbated to give semen sample and U said that during masturbation no blood can enter into the penis so no fear of HIV. Can the infected blood/semen can enter into my penis in this way by pressing and releasing the tip of penis during ejaculation ??? Is there any fear of HIV in my case ???

Brief Answer:
HIV transmission unlikely

Detailed Answer:
Hi,
Thanks for writing back with an update.

1. Pressing releasing is common for increasing pleasure and is called the start stop technique and it is harmless.

2. You have written that there is a doubt about wet blood in your hand before masturbation. Therefore the amount of blood is small.

3. It is unlikely to transmit HIV virus by pressing releasing like you mentioned.

Hope your query is answered.
