Can HIV Be Contracted Through Unprotected Vaginal Sex?

Question: Hi Doctor,

I'm male 37 years old circumcised, living in Florida. I had one time encounter unprotected vaginal sex with an escort girl. I was stupid enough to do that. Now I'm worried sex about HIV. I want to know what are my chances of getting any viruses please.

I didn't have any anal, and I didn't last inside of her for more than a minute each time ( 3 times).

I would really appreciate any input.

Having unprotected vaginal intwrcouse with an escort girl certainly makes you vulnerable and hence you should get yourself tested. Do not hesitate. If the results indicate, getting a post exposure prophylaxis would significantly reduce your chances of getting an HIV infection.

Abstain from unprotected sexual activity in the meantime.

it's been 10 days doctor. assuming the worse, would the prophylaxis works at that time?
