Posted on Thu, 16 Jun 2016
Question: Hello,
I was with a sex worker and she began her menstrual cycle while I had my fingers in her. I had a small scratch on my finger. Now I'm extremely worried and am wondering if I should get on PEP. Should I?

Brief Answer:
You can take PEP.

Detailed Answer:
Dear Krillin,

Welcome to HCM.

You had contact with menstrual blood of a sex worker and there was small scratch on your finger than first of all you have to confirm whether the girl is positive for HIV or not. Even though she was positive the risk is very unlikely with such short and single exposure.

As such no PEP is required but for your satisfaction you can take PEP for 4 weeks and then go for HIV test to confirm your status. If still any doubt left in your mind feel free to ask me and I always available here to help you.

Thank You
