Can HIV Be Contracted From Injections Given During Every Visit To The Clinic?

default
Posted on Wed, 12 Sep 2018
Question: In some year around I normally went to a doctor for normal check up
That doctors was good practicing in that town a qualified old MBBS .
Normally in her clinic they used to give medicine there only and every visit one injection. Don't know what is that injection but her compounder always used to give.
My question, is there any chance of hiv infection during the compounder giving injection. Her clinic is good.
It is nearly 8years passed, and also recently I had gained weight also. So what is the chance that I got infected with hiv during that injection

Sir my main doubt is since eight years passed there will not be any serious complications na

Brief Answer:

Inconclusive details.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

First of all, please note, at every healthcare facility (including the well-established Clinics), a standard of care is maintained. So, the injectable syringes are strictly for one time use only and sterile. So, don't worry about it.

Secondly, in an otherwise healthy and normal individual, there isn't any need to give medicines or injections at every visit. So, if anyone even attempts to do so, you have got the full right to refuse it in the first place.

From your description, it's not clear what was the medicine and why was it given like that, please try to find out if you've any previous prescriptions/reports regarding.

The weight gain seems unrelated to this.

In fact, chances are very unlikely to get infected like this. Although 8 years is a long time, for absolute confirmation and peace of mind, you can undergo 4th-Gen ELISA test for this.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Before last one and half year I had gone tb lymphadentis treatment, and completed successfully the course. And as cross checked by my doctor during treatment he has only told it is not a big problem just complete the course so accordingly I followed him and after tests and x-ray every thing was clear. My lymphnode regressed during second month of my treatment itself. Even before treatment I have no symptoms or any fever or weight loss. After treatment I gained extra 18kgs as I increased my diet with proteins.
So my doctor told you are cured.
As recently I got married my wife became pregnant and as per routine test she has gone hiv test during third and fifth month of pregnancy. Test results came non-reactive. Hence every thing was normal.
Based on the two things can I say we both are free of any infection.
As hiv test performed on her as she came clear and
during my treatment of tb lymphadentis also my doctor who is internal medicine specialist, just treated only for tb treatment.
And except intercourse with my wife after marriage I have no other relationship,
Or no other exposure of needle or anything.
Can me and my wife consider ourselves normal.
Recently I am gaining a lot of weight, per month near 2kgs because of high diet protein.
I was early 74kgs and as per my knowledge it was there for nearly 10years
Now I am 91kgs

Sir I have no physical relationship in my life except my wife. And also I always took precautions while taking any titans injection in any private clinic, since I used to buy my injection of my own

Sir even during my checkup with my wife the doctor not suggested me for any test

Since my wife gone this tests I am just asking you for my clarity

Brief Answer:

Follow-up consultation.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Yes, such a high protein diet over a period of time can certainly cause weight gain. However, as already explained earlier, it's not related to your present concern.

Just follow a well-balanced diet with lots of fresh green vegetables and fruits, avoid fast/junk foods, exercise daily. You should be fine.

As your wife has undergone HIV testing during the third and fifth month of pregnancy and the test results came non-reactive, there is no need to worry about HIV infection...

Since you used to buy disposable-sterile injection syringes on your own, there's no need to worry about it either.

As already mentioned, the chances are very unlikely to get infected like this.

So, don't worry about it and move on happily with your life.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Sir please guide me, as my doctor during the treatment of TB lymphadentis, told to just finish the treatment, nothing else is required. He has not go ahead for any blood test for Hiv or anyThing. As said followed his consultation. And everything thing is fine as of know.
But just scared about this fear of Hiv due to injection as I read a news about a quack used same injection to all the patient leading to infection to many people.
I am a normal person with no habit of cigarette, alcohol or any illegal relationship. So as my wife tested non reactive so can I say myself as non reactive since we have intercourse without safety,we both are safe na
Sir sorry to ask or trouble you asking same thing. But I am getting scared for any test or anything

I want to just know that as explained you my history there is no relation of hiv infection na.
My cbc, esr and remaining blood test as per tb treatment from starting of my treatment were normal. Even during last ten years I was never fall ill severely. Even, the tb lymphadentis the only symptoms was swelling of lymph node only

Brief Answer:

Follow-up consultation.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

But I'd also suggest rather than being anxious all the time, it's always better to get the necessary action done (the necessary investigation in this scenario) as it'll allay those fears with certainty.

As already mentioned, the chances are very unlikely to get infected like this. But the individual report is conclusive evidence for that particular person only.

It can't be supposed or replicated into another person like that.

If you go back to the first answer, you'll find out that I've already mentioned for absolute confirmation and peace of mind, you can undergo 4th-Gen ELISA test for this.

There is nothing to be afraid of this. It's a routinely done procedure which will also help allay those fears of your mind.

Hope I have answered your query.

Take care
