Brief Answer:
Harnal OCAS 400 mcg and Flomax 0.4 mg are the same medication

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing in to us.

I have read through your query in details.
Harnal OCAS and Flomax both contain Tamsulosin medication. This is given for urinary problems due to benign prostate enlargement.

400 mcg is the same as 0.4 mg and you can continue taking it twice a day as prescribed by your doctors.

After taking the medications for 3 months, it is suggested that you get another review ultrasound scan done to follow up on your treatment.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Can i take flomax 0.4 mg twice a day?

Brief Answer:
Please find details below, most doctors give 0.4 mg or 0.8 mg once daily

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXX,
Thanks for writing back with an update.

Harnal OCAS and Flomax contain the same medication called tamsulosin.

As per medical literature, the starting dose of tamsulosin should be 400 mcg or 0.4 mg once daily at the same time of the day. If there is not much relief from symptoms after 4 weeks then the dose can be increased to 800 mcg or 0.8 mg ONCE DAILY only.

Some doctors prescribe 0.4 mg twice a day instead of 0.8 mg as single dose. This needs to be clarified with your doctor. As an external doctor, I cannot change the dose instructions as prescribed by your treating doctor.

Since you have mentioned that your doctor has prescribed you Harnal OCAS 400 mcg twice a day, Flomax will also follow a similar schedule of 0.4 mg twice a day, following your doctors orders.

Please be informed that increasing the dose of tamsulosin to 0.8 mg increases the likelihood of side effects, such as retrograde ejaculation and dizziness.

Hope your query is answered.
Do write back if you have any doubts.

Regards,
Dr.Vivek
