Brief Answer:
Please, send an image for review!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thank you so much for this query.

I am so sorry to hear about these symptoms that you have reported. A review of flagyl doesn’t seem to explain your symptoms. I will like yo have an image of your tongue for review to see what the exact problem is and what measures can be applied to help you. Without an image, I would be able to provide some information but might not be as detailed and personalized as we would love it to be. I would only do so if you are unable to upload an image for review.

To upload an image, click on the link to upload a file to the right on your dashboard. Follow the instructions and this image would be transmitted to me for review and more personalized and helpful insights from me.

I hope to hear from you and would provide prompt response. If you cannot do so, let me know and I would try to address it to the best of my abilities without the image.

Brief Answer:
This is a recognized side effect of flagyl(furry tongue)

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for finally uploading the image.

I have reviewed it and your tongue is clearly coated with a whitish membrane with a central clearing. This would have been easily mistaken for aortal candidiasis(fungal infection) but the recent onset and no other reasons for this are not supportive.

This is a well recognize side effect of flagyl. It would get resolved spontaneously after completing treatment. There is no need for any special treatment for this condition at this time.

I hope this helps. I wish you well and always available to address any further concerns that you may have.

I'm still wondering if I have a mycoplasma infection of my prostate since I do have some residual symptoms post antibiotic treatment. I was told I had to wait 12 weeks after mycoplasma treatment to get tested again. Is this true or can I go earlier? Also, why is this infection not a routinely tested bacteria by GP's? I never knew anything about it until I had specialized testing done for possible chronic prostatitis which cost me $400 for a screening of possible infections. Thanks

Brief Answer:
Sure, your question is being answered!

Detailed Answer:
Hi and thanks for your patience.

I have reviewed your information fully. I would recommend that you wait for the suggested 12weeks before getting retested. This would ensure that we do not get results that might be difficult to correctly interpret.

Mycoplasma is not a common infection to be tested for. This is only considered when more common infections do not explain the symptoms. This is why most primary care physicians would not test for this.

Residual symptoms do not suggest that the infection was not completely treated because chronic prostatitis is often a difficult infection to treat. If often takes a while before all symptoms finally get resolved.

Thanks again for using our services. I wish you well.

Thanks again for all your help. Just wondering if I were to test positive again for mycoplasma what antibiotic therapy would you recommend to your patients? With is causing my prostatitis. Drug, dosage and duration? Thanks so much!

Brief Answer:
I would not want to speculate at this time. Let’s get the results first!

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

The difficulty with treating chronic prostatitis doesn’t lie with the antibiotic but the difficulty of the drugs penetrating the prostate gland. I will suggest that you stay calm and relaxed. Unless the results suggest so, we would not start speculating about treatment options. In extreme cases where medications fail to control the infection, surgery has been considered.

So, follow up with me when you get further testing updates of this. Until then, I wish you well.
