Posted on Tue, 22 Jul 2014
Question: I was on finax for a year. Then I consulted a hair transplant specialist and he prescribed me the following medicines :
VB7 + Ossoban (Monday & Thursday)
Ecod Pus + Fesovit (Tuesday & Fri)
Amino Rich + Finax ( Wednesday & Sat)

Although I did witness thickening of hair in the initial couple of months, but since then my hair have become thinner. Please suggest me if I should start taking Finax regularly or are there any other medicines that I should consider to thicken my hair.

Brief Answer:
Androgenetic Alopecia

Detailed Answer:
Hello and welcome to healthcaremagic

I am Dr. Kakkar.

Finasteride is an inhibitor of 5 alpha reductase enzyme, which is the main culprit for follicular miniaturization and hair thinning in androgenetic alopecia.

Finasteride not only prevents further progression but also reverses miniaturization. Treatment is life long and results are usually appreciable after about 6-12 months of initiating therapy.

I think you should continue with it. It takes at least 6-12 months to produce a noticeable difference in hair thickness and volume

Should I continue with the other medicines that I listed in the question? Can I take finastride regularly with the aforementioned medicines? Are there any other medicines on offer that can increase thickness of hair?

Brief Answer:
Androgenetic alopecia

Detailed Answer:
Hi.

Regarding the other medications. They are vitamin (VB 7 contains Biotin as the main active ingredient) and aminoacid supplements. Though they have no direct role in Androgenetic alopecia per se, but they supplement hair growth. You can take these along with Finasteride.

Besides, Finasteride Saw-Palmetto Extract also has the same effect and is utilized for the same purpose. It comes as Tablet Androanagen (marketed by curatio in India).
