Can Doxycycline Cause High Blood Sugar?

Question: I was recently given a prescription for Doxycycline Hyclate 100 mg. I am noticeing high readings when taking my blood sugar levels before and after meals. Is this due to the medication .

No Doxycycline never does a side effect like this. It has an effect on blood sugar levels and that is it causes sometimes in some patients a Low Blood Sugar Levels (Hypoglycemia).

You should consult a Diabetologist for in office evaluation and review of your overall scenario as this might need to review your antidiabetic medications.
