Celebrex is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). They do cause increased acidity and lead to constipation. Every morning, take one tablet of Pantoprazole on empty stomach which will control your acidity. At bedtime, have 2 tablets of Gelucil MPS or Tums with warm water before you retire to bed. This should relieve you from your constipation problem.

Thanks. Since celebrex is a NSAID i assume it could contribute to conditions like tinnitus?

Brief Answer:
I would not advise it for tinnitus

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX,

Tinnitus is most of the time due to 8th nerve affection and/or inner ear swelling (vestibulitis). NSAID medicines are useful for somatic pains which are muscular or tendinous in origin. I have got a doubt whether they will help in treating vestibulitis.

I feel, you should get the diagnosis confirmed from the ENT specialist. If it is vestibulitis, you will also get vertigo on changing the positions of head. For vestibulitis, some antibiotics with steroids are more useful. Alternatively, you may take Decongestants like Cetirizine or Strugerone along with the antibiotics which also are very useful for such conditions.

In addition, steam inhalation with tincture Benzoin drops or Eucalyptus oil drops in the boiling water will also help by clearing Eustachian tube if it is blocked.

Do you get any pain on the bone behind the pinna of the ear (mastoid bone)?

Please report to ENT specialist for appropriate diagnosis before you proceed for any treatment.

For any more information, I am always available for you, XXXX.

How do you know if the 8th nerve is affected? Does that go to auditory nerve? I had an MRI and it showed no problems other than a menginioma on left frontal lobe. How do you know if tinnitus is caused by blood vessel disorder?

Brief Answer:
Neurologist's opinion needed

Detailed Answer:
Dear XXXX,

This is indeed a new history about meningioma of the left frontal lobe. Any space occupying lesion in the skull can cause different symptoms according to the pressure it is executing on the organs.

Yes, 8th nerve is the Auditory nerve. If the blood vessel disorder is affecting blood supply to the 8th nerve or its nucleus of origin, it may cause tinnitus.

However, with the history you have provided now, I feel, you should report to a neurologist to seek for thorough work up and the management.
