Can Augmentin And Doxycycline Be Taken Together?
Question: Can I take Augmentin 625 together with Doxy 100 both twice a day? It is for persistent recurring folliculitis. Please advise.

I am dr.kakkar(dermatologist). I have gone through your query and i have noted your concern.
Though this combination is not routinely recommended, however it can be taken together if indicated as they have different antimicrobial coverage (augmentin covers aerobic gram negative bacilli in addition to aerobic gram positive cocci whereas doxycycline mainly covers gram positive cocci and only few gram negative bacilli). I would suggest that you take it under supervision of a doctor and only after a pus culture and sensitivity report from a folliculitis lesion that would help selecting the most appropriate antibiotic or combination of oral antibiotics.
