Question: I heard recently that Atenolol should not be given to anyone who is diabetic or pre-diabetic. Is this something new, & is it a recognized new study??

Brief Answer:
Its an old concept, but now a days it's prescribed

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Its an old concept. Atenolol may mask some of the symptoms of hypoglycemia and also thought to increase blood sugars slightly. But, it's recognized that benefits are much more than risk so it's freely prescribed if indicated. So it depends on the indication whether to have it or not. And since you being on it since 15 yrs, I don't think there is any need to change.
Hope this helps you and get back if you have any doubts.
