Can Amoxicillin Cause False Positive Urine Test Result For Amphetamine?

Question: Hi recently I tested positive in a drug urinalysis for amphetamine and methamphetamine. Could this be caused by amoxicillin or panadeine forte?

No, both the drugs that you described i.e amoxicillin and panadeine forte are not responsible for a positive test in drug urinalysis for amphetamine and methamphetamine.

You may repeat the Urinalysis from a different lab if you are sure about not having used the drugs. You may also recall the various food items that you had taken which were unusual or not part of routine as well as the routine ones.

Bupropion and desipramine Adderall or Dextrostat are medications that can potentially give a false positive test result, so its one of the explanations.

Gas chromatography–mass spectrometry can be done for confirmation as they are much more accurate tests.

The value is much higher than the cut off value. Its a high reading.
