Can Advil Cause Restlessness As A Side-effect?

default
Posted on Mon, 25 Sep 2017
Question: Does Advil pm cause restlessness? It was suggested by my daughter to take it for sleep. I've been taking two of the blue liquid gels, 200mg each, for less than a week now. I also take one simvastatin and a Rite Aid sleeping tablet.. My pharmacist confirmed that it was ok to do so.
So my question is as above. . . . does the Advil cause restlessness?

Brief Answer:
No, advil does not cause restlessness.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you for using Healthcaremagic to post your health query.
I read carefully your question and I understand your concern.

Ibuprofen does not cause restlessness as a side effect.

It is not very helpful too with the sleep, unless you have a pain which Ibuprofen helps to relieve and calm you down.

It can cause high blood pressure if you are under treatment with high blood pressure medicines, so I would recommend to check your blood pressure when you have the restlessness and make sure it is within normal limits. If not, I would advise to stop using Advil, unless you have a very specific reason (which I cannot tell from the description above).

Advil may give stomach problems if used for a long time, and with the empty stomach. This is the most common side effect it gives.

I agree with your doctor, that it is ok to take it with the medications you have mentioned above, because there is no interaction between them.

Hope this is helpful.
Let me know if you need more clarifications.
