Posted on Mon, 14 Sep 2015
Question: can accutane cause problems years after I've stopped taking it? can stress alone cause bumps/eruptions that are difficult to get rid of, leave horrible scars and seem to be symmetrical on both sides of my body. I have had many changes including vision, memory, more neuro symptoms, hormonal changes, and
ni severe depression and anxiety. I quit my job last October as an RN in the hospital. I have no idea what happened to me I've asked every Dr I know but only got steroid cream which made it worse help

Brief Answer:
Accutane would not cause any problem long after its use

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.
Let me assure you that accutane is not a steroid. It is a retinoid. It is unlikely to cause any problems years after its use. I do not think that the mentioned problems have any relation to the use of accutane.
Let me know if I could be of further help.

Brief Answer:
The cause seems to be bacterial infection

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back.
I have checked the attached images. It seems that you have been getting some bacterial infections which have been causing the boils. Application of mupirocin or neosporin ointment (antibacterial) should provide relief. I would also insist you to get a blood count done. Based on the reports, giving a course of antibiotics might be helpful.

Brief Answer:
Antibiotics with better gram positive coverage required

Detailed Answer:
I would need to ask for how many days had you taken Rocephin (Ceftriaxone). However, the coverage of ceftriaxone is more for gram negative bacteria and in your case, a better gram positive coverage is required. I would perhaps prefer amoxycillin clavulinate or levofloxacin instead to be given for 5-7 days. I think that would make it go away.
