Are Visible Veins On Left Testicle A Symptom Of Varicocele?

default
Posted on Mon, 25 Jul 2016
Question: HI

This question is for Doctor XXXXXXX (urologist)
Or Dr Matthews (urologist)

Hi doc

needed some reassurance on a few images I have uploaded.

after a shower my Veins on the left testicle become visible like bumpy type feeling.

They do subside but when my testicles are not in a tense state I can feel them on the left side is this normal anatomy?

If I Google vein on left testicle it comes up with varicocele? Which doesn't look like this. There's not much material online people just saying stuff like ultraaound or what not.

Thought I'd get the opinion of a professional

Many thanks

Images uploaded

Is it a vein? Or lump or anything like that? Or normal anatomy?

Why do Veins look abit raised after showering?

Is this a common finding thanks

Brief Answer:
photos show normal prominent veins, below skin over testis.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXXXXX and welcome to HCM.
As an Urologist,i can understand your concern.

The veins seen in the photos, are absolutely normal veins.
These are seen in most adult males and are prominent, because it's just under skin.
It gets filled up with up with blood, depending on external temperature.

There's nothing to worry about and my advice is, not to keep feeling them.

Varicoceles are prominent veins, seen high up, above the testis, along the cord.
They're not veins seen on the surface of the testis.

Hope your doubts are cleared are cleared.
Wish you well.

Hi Dr Matthews

See 1 more image attached

Even if there is a S type shaped vein above the left testicle as seen in the picture is this a normal vein?

And are Veins above the testicle normal in this size?

Where would you say the spermatic cord is?

Also any tips and treatments for my anxiety It is effecting me daily and I keep looking and observing veins

Also are my testicles normal? There's no fullness on left side or anything like that?

Final question thanks

Brief Answer:
Vein can be of any shape.Stop looking at the scrotal veins.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

The veins can be of any shape. That's normal.

The veins above the testis appear grossly normal, from the photos.

The spermatic cord is in the scrotum, above the testis, towards the groin.

To reduce anxiety, the best method is to exercise, yoga, meditation, music, etc.
Avoid looking at your veins, now that you know, the veins are normal.

The testicles appear normal in the photos.
To confirm that, one needs to get it examined by an Urologist and do a scan.
It's called a scrotal doppler ultrasound scan.

You can send the scan to me for an expert opinion.
Wish you well.

Everything is normal?

You only want to the scan to see if testicles are normal? And nothing to do the Veins?

Ill just take it easy take your advice and as 26 year old get on with life? Would you agree.

Thanks Sir and good night.

Hi Dr Mangat
That is fine

By looking at my images I do not have a cyst or anything like that? that what i was asking.

My images when observed by you did not show you anything harmful like a cyst? But just a nomal vein?

XXXX

After having a shower I have uploaded my image.

I can't see any Veins today and I am assured there are no cysts or lumps as this would be visible?

This is my final question and I will rate it and end this forum.

Also testicle Size is it normal to have testicles which are a bit bigger? And is it healthy.

Brief Answer:
Testis size varies in different men.

Detailed Answer:
Hi XXXXXXX

As i'd written earlier, the visibility of the veins can vary, due to various factors.
The testicular size in a man, won't change.

A cyst can be seen clearly on the scan.
When it increases in size,it can be made out by feeling the testis.

Minimal changes in size of testis in different people is seen.
Larger sized testis, don't affect health or sexuality of men.

Wish you well.

That is OK

But sir what I am saying is from the image I have sent in there are no cysts?

I have no cysts from the images I uploaded?

The images you observed just had Veins right and no cysts?

I know you said a scan is needed to look for such problems which I will arrange.

But from your expert knowledge you didn't see anything like that from the images?

When I sent in the images you only commented on the Veins I can't observe any cysts

Theres no swelling just Veins under scrotum

I have booked a councilling session today and spoke to my GP who said he will prescribe amitriptyline for me.

Along as I have got your opinion and everything is fine and it is just a vein. I can't feel any cysts or anything like that everything is smoothm

When you said a cyst can be seen on a scan is that something I will have to arrange with the hospital?

So you've said evweyrhing is fine and it looks like a vein like appearance if I am worried and want to clear my doubt further which you as you said is everything is fine you have said get scan.

Sir I will take you first opinion and stop observing scrotal Veins!

I am not worried about cysts.

Your confirmation and Dr XXXXXXX confirmation and my observations done show any cysts sir.

Just Veins because a cyst can't be V shaped.

They are normal scrotal Veins as you and Dr XXXXXXX bar. Said. You are experienced people and deal with this day to day.

However just for knowledge can you let me know what scan If in the future I may need to get done and what I ask my doctor for?

Sir I am 26 I need to get on with life and enjoy it! Will get on the exercise etc now and follow up appointments with counciller

Hi Dr mangat

As you have said that the scrotal Veins are of normal prominence and you've checked these you said are fine.

Also I have spoken to my GP and his said Veins are of normal nature.

I'm not worried about cysts I'm definitely cyst free.

Now I have had the images checked from a urologist who has confirmed they look normal I have decided to get on with things

I think I am paying too much attention down below

And as for fertility issues I need to loose 4 stone in weight first and see how I feel I am due to get married in December and have a personal trainer.

Thanks for your support and letting me know Veins look OK.
