Question: I had severe constipation with nausea and pain. After deficating, I continued to just poop blood clots and mucus. Was admitted to the hospital thru the er. A colonoscopy was done. The results showed a spot that was biopsied and ischemic colitis. The biopsy was negative. Tho the colon showed ischemia the cta exam was negative. The doc still thinks there is a reason for this. What else could it possible be? All arteries did not show any blockage or aneurism.

Brief Answer:
Ischemic colitos

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

Thank you for trusting us with your health concern.

Ischemic colitis occurs due to an interruption in blood flow to the colon. CT angiogram may not show any issues in a patient with ischemic colitis.
On your case, the chronic constipation is the likely culprit. Constipation can lead to increased pressure in bowels and decreased blood flow to colon. If the colitis is mild ,the only management needed is to avoid further constipation and your bowels will heal on its own.
Here are few tips to avoid constipation
-Stay hydrated
-Walk around regularly .the more the physical activity, the more XXXXXXX will be your bowels
-Eat food rich in fiber like rice, wheat, XXXXXXX oatmeal
-You can also use over the counter laxatives like Dulcolax once the acute colitis symptoms have subsided.
It is also importantto undergo thorough cardiac and blood pressure evaluation. Hypertension and heart problems can affect overall blood flow to organs. Blood investigations including Complete blood count, complete metabolic profile and ESR are also recommended at this point.
