Hello,

I am sorry to say that you need anti-rabies vaccine at 0, 3 and 7 days. As your immune status is not known i.e.antibodies level is not known, and rabies is deadly, I suggest 3 doses. This vaccine is freely available in your country in all govt hospitals and also in the open market.

Please take the first dose as soon as possible. As a rule we advise re-vaccine in all victims.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further query then you can get back to me.

i asked local medical professionals here they were saying you do not need atleast for 3-6 months. and other answers on same website is saying it works effectively till year. now what to do? it seems to me like video game. one bullet hit...inject the health serum...again bullet hit...aftr 10 secs...another health serum.... this means...laboratory workers should be taking rabies vaccine monthly..... bt i read they get annual shots..... what should i do now.... money is not concerned here..... thing is....i need the shots or not...in such a shot duration

Hello,

I had consulted my standard medical textbook and it says that after a full schedule of vaccine the effect remains for 6 years. A full schedule means 0, 3, 7, 14, 28, 90 days vaccine. Book is textbook of preventive and social medicine by Park.

Also veterinarians say there is no need to take upto 6 months.
In the same book it is written that if the wound is small as a scratch, the person may take two vaccines on 0 and the 3rd day.

A WHO personnel has said that the vaccine may be avoided till 6 months if the full schedule has been taken but he stresses about the seriousness of rabies.

Now, as you got only 3 shots recently and rabies is almost 100 percent fatal, I recommended 3 shots. This is the answer of consensus.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

No need

Detailed Answer:

Hello,

I am sorry to confuse you. I have consulted a veterinary doctor and a veterinary doctor and they say that if a person was immunized within 6 months then there is no need for vaccine.

Therefore, the final verdict is no vaccine.

Hope I have answered your query.
