Are Painful And Swollen Glands Under The Chin Side Effect Of Doxycycline Hyclate?

Question: Hi, yesterday my doctor started me on doxycycline hyclate 100 twice a day. I took them along with my other usual meds. Theophylline 100, Crestor 5 mg. esomeprazole, and singulair before bedtime. I am also on a short course of prednisone for 5 days, 40 me/daily. I couldn't sleep but I know that the doxycycline increases the effect of theophylline. What concerns me is that the glands under my chin are swollen and painful on both sides, I've never had this before. Should I stop the doxycycline? I'm 62, and weigh 105, if that helps at all

Brief Answer:
I don't think this is necessary

Detailed Answer:
Hi and welcome.
I dont recommend to stop doxicilcin since I would not say it is side effect of this medication. If there is inflammation or infection of submandibular glands then doxicilin can only help. So I suggest to wait few more days and see the course of your condition. Wish you good health.
