Brief Answer:
Need to act quickly.

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Your mom eGFR is low and is labelled as moderate to severe kidney failure. The serum creatinine is just high normal but GFR is more important than creatinine.
Since she is 70 yr old with high risk factors of diabetes and blood pressure it is considered a risk when uncontrolled. You should immediately act and get these risk. It may be acute on chronic kidney disease.

Brief Answer:
Kidney function

Detailed Answer:

Hi,

Yes Biopsy of kidney confirm a better picture but not needed all the time. There has to be a better clarity about her ongoing issues.
For sure she needs is medicines to control the BP, Sugar. If they are controlled the kidney conditions does not progress rapidly.
If it takes to give her insulin for controlling the sugar she has to take it.
The BP should be controlled to lesser than 130/90 and it may need three or four classes of anti hypertensive drugs.
